SOBA (Self Owned Biometric Authentication) is the world’s first and only Zero Knowledge Self Verification System. It allows you to validate your identity for various services—like entering an event or taking a test—without ever giving your raw biometric data to an external company or central database. We verify your “humanhood” while ensuring you remain the sole owner of your personal information.
Most traditional systems store your “Biohash” on their own servers, meaning they control and possess your biometric details. SOBA Network flips this model:
The network is designed for any situation where you need to prove you are “you” without compromising privacy. Common uses include:
No. Unlike other systems that require expensive proprietary hardware, SOBA is designed to work with the devices you already own, such as your smartphone camera.
No. Your device uses your camera to create a “Biometric Hash” (a long string of numbers). As soon as that math is done, the photo is deleted. We never see your photo, and it never touches our servers.
MPC stands for Multi-Party Computation. Imagine taking your biometric hash, breaking it into multiple puzzle pieces, and hiding each piece in a separate, high-security vault . To use your hash, you need a “threshold” of those vaults to talk to each other. If a hacker breaks into one or two of the vaults, they only find a useless piece of a puzzle. They can never “see” your face or your full identity.
Biometric technology is very accurate, but not perfect. Factors like very poor lighting or significant facial injuries can occasionally cause a “False Rejection”. If this happens, you may need to retry the capture in better conditions. Our terms limit our liability for these technical hiccups, as they are a known part of biometric science.
This is the most important part: Because SOBA Network is decentralized and non-custodial, we do not have a “Master Key”. If you lose your Private Key, we cannot “reset” your biometrics or put the pieces back together for you. Please back up your key securely
What is the SOBA Network?
SOBA (Self Owned Biometric Authentication) is a decentralized, Zero-Knowledge Identity platform that allows users to verify their humanity and authenticity without surrendering their biometric data to external vendors.
What problem does SOBA solve?
It addresses the “digital trust paradox” by proving a person is who they say they are without compromising their privacy. It protects against AI bots, data slop, and unauthorized account or ticket access while eliminating data liability for organizations.
Is the verification process automated?
The platform uses a verification engine powered by advanced algorithms and machine learning for fast results. However, a human expert may assist if the system encounters difficulties, such as a blurry photo, to ensure accuracy.
How is my biometric data (biohash) secured?
SOBA uses Multi-Party Computation (MPC) to fragment biometric data across independent nodes. No single entity, including SOBA Network, holds the “key” to reconstruct your original biometric information, ensuring complete anonymization.
What is the “Malicious Adversarial Mode”?
This is a rigorous security standard where the protocol is designed to maintain privacy and data integrity even if one or more nodes in the network act maliciously or deviate from the protocol.
Who has access to my biometric data?
Because of the decentralized MPC architecture, only you have access to your raw biometric data. Organizations only receive confirmation of your authenticity without ever seeing your personal identifiers.
What compliance standards does SOBA meet?
The network is fully compliant with global standards, including GDPR, SOC 2 Type II, and the UKDIATF (UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework).
How easy is it to integrate SOBA into my website?
Integration is simple: register on the dashboard, create your event, and add the provided verification button directly to your site or app; SOBA handles the rest.
What are some common use cases for SOBA?
What pricing models are available?
SOBA offers two main models: Monthly Pricing for steady, recurring verification needs (like entry verification) and Per Event Pricing for scheduled events with a dynamic number of users (like trade shows or concerts).
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Users have direct control over the removal of their biometric data. Biometric hash data stored under the MPC cluster can be removed by the owner through the dashboard.
How long is my information retained?
Data is stored only for the duration specified in the agreement with the Customer (the organization you are verifying for). For “Per Event” pricing, user registration details are typically deleted after the event concludes.
